Confidence Building - Staff provides encouragement to the student. Regularly, students are told, "You will do it, because you CAN do it. You are a student with a promising future." This continual, positive reinforcement generates the confidence the students need to attempt new things. The more they try, the more they will succeed. The more they succeed, the more they try.
Goal Setting - Many young people-when asked what they want to do when they grow up, will respond with a vague answer, "...I want to be a doctor." The Quest staff discuss these goals and then show the student how to make them attainable.
Guaranteed Scholarship - Each Quest student knows that by working hard and staying out of trouble, he or she has an excellent chance at a better future. What could have been a nearly impossible dream becomes a very tangible reality with the awarding of a 4-year scholarship to a state university.
